Nomadic Tuareg camp after the rains.
Camp Intatolen. September 2005.
The nomadic Tuaregs of the Azawak reside in camps of approximately 50 to 150 individuals, and live in mobile tents made of wooden poles covered with a red dyed goat hide tarp. During the rainy season, they move every 3 to 4 days in search for the greenest pastures for their livestock. During the dry season, they move as often as necessary to find water, but prefer to stay in the vicinity of their “home territory”, land which has been passed down from one generation of encampments to the next.
